Tying out your month can be a pain. Whenever you get those moments of concern, anxiety, or urgency, remember to take a moment to breathe and start from that last clean entry you had. Here is a Quick QB Tip to help make your month-end easier.
The logic is simple: Money collected in your eCommerce system, QuickBooks, and Bank Payouts should all match. It's when these don't initially match that the stress immediately appears, and here is one way to ensure you can reconcile faster and easier.
Check your Gateway Batch Times
Some Gateways batch partway through the day by default at 6 pm or 5 pm on the west coast, but websites run all day every day, so this can complicate your process. Whenever possible, it's best to have the batches set to run at midnight or very close to midnight. Some reject this idea because it can add an extra day for the money to reach your bank. But once that one day has passed, the flow of funds continues as you sell each day.
The choices are: waste a lot of time trying to sort out bank payouts that contain partial days or waiting one extra day for the funds to reach the bank.
Whatever your process is for balancing the books, hopefully, this tip will help you tie out a less stressful month-end.
Testimonial:
We recently decided to make the switch from the software version of QB to QBO. WGits has been a game changer for us in connecting the two and saves us so much time. There’s no longer a need for third-party mapping, no more manually uploading-it just does the job automatically! Dan and the team were super helpful in getting us all set up, and are super responsive to any questions or issues that pop up.
