Sunridge Nurseries,Cuyama Ranch

In our continuous effort to benefit the industry and our customers, Sunridge is proud to partner with UC Davis’s, Foundation Plant Services (FPS) to help supply the vines to reestablish their registered vines lost due to recent red blotch virus issues.

As a leader in the industry, our goal still remains simple. We are committed to providing the cleanest, superior quality vines to the industry and our customers. Our proactive approach has become our biggest advantage with mother vines farmed in our isolated, virgin soils in the high desert of New Cuyama that has consistently tested virus-free for over 10 years now.

Sunridge has teamed up with other local nurseries to help secure the funding for Phase 1 of the future foundation greenhouse that is planned to be operational by the end of 2023. To best protect the plants from red blotch and other pathogens transmitted by insects, FPS will adopt a new protocol for grapevines propagated from plant material from the Classic vineyard to be moved into the greenhouse, tested, and verified as clean from disease before being sold to nurseries.

FPS Director, Maher Al Rwahnih says, “We have always had a strong relationship with Sunridge Nurseries and have been able to count on them anytime we need support and answers. We value their partnership with this project.”

Sunridge understands the importance of working together during a crucial time to ensure we can continue to take part in supplying the varieties to the industry for years to come.
