The US EPA Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Act requires regular inspection of above-ground storage tanks. In response, the Steel Tank Institute has developed a standard protocol, SP001, governing these inspections for shop-built and field-erected ASTs containing up to 50,000 gallons of fuel.

Risks of Noncompliance

Organizations that fail to have regular inspections performed are at risk of citations by the fire authority, leaks and the associated penalties, costly repairs, and downtime.

In order to comply with EPA SPCC (Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure) rules, a facility must regularly test liquid level sensing devices to ensure proper operation (40 CFR 112.8(c)(8)(v))

Compliance Made Easy

Knowledge of SPCC plus other federal, state, and local regulations impacting fuel storage are critical. CD & Power can help you meet these unique regulatory requirements by:

  • performing inspections per SP001 protocol and provide certified inspection report
  • training all technicians who perform inspections at your site
