
Bank Feeds allow you connect your QuickBooks account to your bank accounts. This is available for both QB Desktop and QB Online. It allows you to see your deposits within QuickBooks and saves you having to look up paper statements or login to your bank account in another tab. Your account balances and transactions show up automatically in the software – no manual data entry is required from your bank.
QuickBooks supports 20,000 local and international banks, so getting setup should be fairly straightforward. To do this in QuickBooks Desktop, follow these steps:
- Go to the Banking menu.
- Hover over Bank Feeds and select Set Up Bank Feed for an Account.
- Select your QuickBooks account and then select Next.
- Select the Financial Institution for this account and then select Next.
- Follow the onscreen instructions on how to connect your account. Note: If you download transactions from your bank and import them to QuickBooks for the first time, then this sets up an account for Bank Feeds.
- Select Connect, then Close.
For QuickBooks Online, see the below steps:
- Go to Bookkeeping then Transactions then select Bank Transactions
- If this is the first bank account you’ve set up, select Connect Account. Or select Link Account if you already created one.
- In the search field, enter the name for your bank, credit card, or credit union.
- Select Continue. Then sign in to your bank with your user ID and password.
- Follow the on-screen steps. This might include security checks your bank requires. It could take a few minutes to connect.
- Select the accounts you want to connect, then select the Account Type â–¼dropdown. Choose the account type that matches your chart of accounts in QuickBooks.
Transactions are updated each night, but you also have the option to update manually. When using WGits to send orders to QuickBooks, you’ll be able to see your total sales in your eCommerce platform, which will match with what you have in QuickBooks, and you’ll be able to tie that to your Bank Feed deposits recorded.
