With the proliferation of so many brands in the marketplace, the push for different and interesting labels to grab consumer attention is more important than ever. Considering something unique is a great way to help your label stand out. The term “innovation labels” is a term used for anything new, different, or creative in the world of label packaging.
Perhaps you’d like to explore a label with an unusual stock, like wood or velvet? Or maybe add a resin seal or specialty ink to your label? Or possibly use standard embellishment options like emboss or foil stamping in a more striking, innovative way?
While the innovation possibilities at MCC are numerous (and growing all the time), the process to ensure success is easily navigated with mindful planning. Below are some tips for creating a successful innovative label:

- Establish the desired result of the innovation.
Knowing how you’d like the final product to look, feel, and perform is the most critical step to ensuring a successful outcome. Questions and relevant samples can be of great assistance during the exploratory process.
- Determine what trials may be needed to test the innovation.
With new ideas and products often comes the need for testing. Trials can be conducted to preview visual results, performance, application, or possibly a combination of these components. Complexity of trials can vary by innovation, but all testing helps guarantee success of the final product.
- Set up project timelines.
This crucial step ensures success with innovations. Timelines should include preparation of art files, arrivals of special materials or tooling, time for the trials to be created and tested, and ultimately, meet the requested delivery date.
- Review trial results.
Once the trials are complete, determine if the labels are meeting expectations. Do changes need to be made for improvement? Would another trial be beneficial?
