When perusing the aisles of a store or browsing online for that perfect bottle of wine, it’s not just the contents that capture our attention. The presentation plays a critical role in piquing our interest and influencing our purchase decisions, including the bottle’s design, glass color and label. For over two decades, award-winning Vintage 99 Label has understood this significance, providing dedicated and personalized label printing services to wineries, helping them tell the story of their fine wines.
Being a family-owned and operated label printer has definite advantages for Vintage 99 clients. Brian Lloyd, Chief Marketing Officer, explains, “We’re one of the last independent printers and we’re proud of that, as clients trust us because of our size and personalized service. “He adds, “Our clients get a dedicated customer service representative who knows their work inside out, all the fine details of their label, how they want their proofs, and their various shipment needs. This level of service detail requires a customized process that tends to go out the window when you work with a mega print company.”
Vintage 99’s printing experts assist clients from small to large, working with the client’s existing designer or if a client prefers working with Vintage 99’s talented designers. “We want designers to be part of the process from the very beginning,” Lloyd emphasizes, “We want and welcome them to press checks, to see the label and to sign off on what they want. Designers need to be part of the process just as much as the customer.”
Since wine labels can be very different in terms of placement, artwork, and specifications, Vintage 99 meets the demanding requirements of wineries by operating multiple types of printing and equipment across two manufacturing facilities in Livermore and Santa Rosa, CA, with the latest print technology and high impact finishing options. While larger wineries tend to have longer lead times for labels, many smaller and midsize wineries have less time, often requesting a fast turn-around. To meet that need, Vintage 99 structured its process to provide unmatched lead times of 10-15 days when the customer requires it, even for sizable runs.

Unlike most printers that focus only on matching the supplied color in order to get a sign off and keep the press running, at a Vintage 99 press check, they print the target color/s and also a lighter version and a darker version to help the client make a more informed decision and compare these options side by side.
