For more than three decades, Bergin Screen Printing and Etching has set the standard for etched wine bottle decoration. While the bottles themselves have been widely showcased, the meticulous craftsmanship behind them has remained largely unseen, traditionally kept behind workshop doors in Napa Valley.
Until now.
“As wineries face evolving consumer expectations, the need to provide more compelling reasons to visit has never been greater. We’ve seen our clients actively seeking new ways to innovate, attract guests, and stand out. That’s where this idea started to take shape.” says Savannah Bergin, Director of Operations.
With the launch of Bespoke by Bergin, a new chapter in wine hospitality begins, one that brings a legacy craft into the moment and invites guests to become part of it.
At its core, Bespoke introduces a new approach to brand expression in wine, one that extends beyond the finished product and into immersive wine experiences. Rather than simply observing the final bottle, guests are invited into the creative process, engaging with the craft, the story, and the brand in real time.
Traditionally, the role of the decorator ends when the bottle leaves production. Bespoke changes that.
Through a curated set of offerings, including live bottle painting, hands-on art experiences, and custom large-format wine bottles, Bergin brings the packaging back into the moment. The bottle is no longer just a vessel. It becomes part of the experience itself.
From Watching the Art to Becoming Part of It
These immersive wine experiences are offered in two distinct formats: Live Painting and Brush to Bottle, each designed to create a different kind of connection during winery events and client engagement.
Live Painting offers a visually captivating activation, where a skilled Bergin artist recreates a winery’s label directly onto a large-format bottle in real time. As the artwork unfolds, it becomes a focal point, drawing guests in as they taste, socialize, and engage with the story behind the wine. For those who choose, the experience can become interactive, inviting guests to contribute to the piece themselves.
For a more hands-on approach, Brush to Bottle invites guests beyond observation and into creation. In this intimate instructor-led wine experience, participants paint directly onto pre-etched bottles, guided by the winery’s story and a curated tasting. The experience is intentionally paced to complement the wine itself, enhancing, rather than distracting from the moment.
“This idea traces back to one of my earliest memories when I was six and my dad brought etched bottles into my classroom,” Savannah Bergin shares. “It was my first real exposure to what my family does. We each painted a bottle, and I remember how immediate the connection was, it felt completely different from a typical art project. That moment stayed with me. Years later, I realized that if something that simple could create such a lasting impression, it could resonate in the same way with our clients and their guests, just in a more refined, intentional setting.”
The result is more than an activity, it’s a personalized keepsake that captures the experience, the setting, and the story behind the wine.
Select Bespoke experiences, including Brush to Bottle, are reserved for Bergin’s winery partners, designed as an extension of long-standing relationships rather than a widely available service.
A Lasting Impression
As wineries continue to look for new ways to attract and retain their audiences, expectations have shifted. Guests are no longer just looking for wine tastings; they’re seeking meaningful winery experiences that create lasting connections.
Bespoke by Bergin responds to that shift by transforming a familiar element - the bottle - into a point of interaction, storytelling, and memory. It allows wineries to extend their brand beyond the pour and into something more lasting.
Beyond immersive experiences, Bespoke also includes additional offerings designed to elevate every touchpoint of the winery journey, from custom wine bottles created for milestone moments to refined packaging enhancements that transform each piece into a display-worthy statement.

If you love the look of a classic paper wine label — soft, tactile, warm in your hands — but wish bottles could weather shipping, moisture, ice, and handling without cracking, smudging, or peeling, you’ll want to see how that “paper look” is being reimagined. At Bergin Screen Printing and Etching we’ve found a way. B screen printing directly onto glass, we recreate the matte, textured elegance of paper but make it hold up through the journey from cellar to table.
It’s more than just practicality. By layering inks and textures directly on glass, we build design freedom and durability into the bottle. Details stay sharp, colors stay true, and the experience remains craft‑driven and refined. Whether your brand leans traditional or modern, relies on subtlety or seeks shelf‑presence, this approach offers both aesthetic comfort and functional strength.
Imagine wine bottles that feel familiar as old‑world labels but perform like modern packaging. Imagine custom shapes — maybe even a playful pig silhouette — that still carry elegance and durability.

Decorating for Impact
Creative Intent: The artwork captures the essence of each species - not just in appearance, but in movement and spirit.
Emotional Connection: Patrons aren't just purchasing a bottle; they're supporting endangered wildlife. The label becomes a conversation piece, influencing both awareness and action.
Applying our Screen Printing & Etching Expertise
Our team had the privilege of both screen printing and etching these intricate designs for Menagerie Cellars, capturing the delicate details that embody the beauty of each animal.
Screen Printing
Transformed intricate illustrations into vibrant inks layered precisely on glass.
Techniques like trapping ensured clean transitions between thick/ thin lines and negative space, preserving design clarity.
Etching

Added tactile depth, giving labels an upscale, collectible feel.
To translate artwork seamlessly into glass textures, we refined design elements by ensuring a minimum line thickness (1 pt.) and removing overly fine details.
This meticulous adaptation preserved the original artistic vision while making it production-ready for glass application.
A Bottle That “Speaks” Conservation
Beyond aesthetics, this label series functions as a brand ambassador for Menagerie Cellars’ conservation mission:
Shelf Presence: The bold, beautiful labels stand out - not just visually, but emotionally.Narrative Engagement: Each animal design prompts curiosity and fosters conversations about endangered wildlife.
Brand Alignment: The label art directly reflects the winery’s mission - turning packaging into a platform for awareness and impact.
Menagerie Cellars and Bergin have shown that packaging can extend purpose - merging design, emotion, and environmental stewardship. If your brand seeks to weave storytelling into its label art - whether through color, texture, technique, or image - our team is ready to help translate your vision into glass.

For three and a half decades, Bergin Screen Printing and Etching has been a beacon of creativity and precision in the realm of glass bottle decoration. As the company celebrates its 35th anniversary this year, it reflects on a journey marked by innovation, resilience, and a passion for producing exquisite designs for wine, beer, and spirits bottles.
Bergin bears the imprint of a family legacy, rooted in the entrepreneurial spirit that flows through generations. Founded by Mike Bergin, whose upbringing was steeped in the wisdom of his father, Jack Bergin, today Mike's journey continues alongside his daughter, Savannah Bergin, Director of Operations, and his wife, Karen, as they navigate the intricate landscape of business together.

Originating as an etch and paint studio founded in 1989, Bergin quickly garnered attention for providing an artisanal packaging solution unseen in the industry. Among its earliest winery patrons was the esteemed Robert Mondavi Winery, a collaboration that showcased Bergin's meticulous craftsmanship on labels and packaging for some of Mondavi's finest wines. Today they decorate for a wide variety of clients. It has always been Bergin’s goal to provide packaging for brands of all sizes, many starting out as small family-owned wineries who have grown with them over the years.
In 1995, Bergin embarked on a transformative chapter by introducing screen print decoration to their offerings. This strategic expansion marked a pivotal moment in the company's evolution, symbolizing a commitment to growth and adaptability in an ever-changing industry landscape.
